It’s not easy for me to pick favorite modern family episodes (besides the holiday ones) but this one was jam packed with so many awesome moments, especially the plot twist with Phil having to fire Mitchell.

One of my favourite things about fiction, especially as a writer, is when one writes a main character from the perspective of them as a side character, or the other way around.

You know those wacky friends that Phil or Cam have that come in for small subplots in the episodes? I felt like Mitch filled in that space perfectly in this episode, and I got to see him from a completely fresh perspective.

I never hear people talking about this episode, and it highlights his innocence, and what he could look like from an outer perspective if you aren’t so caught up in him being pedantic and neurotic. Not everyone in the modern family universe would have a problem with Mitch at first.

Ironically, everyone did in this episode.

also, his acting made him seem a lot more sincere in this episode and I really appreciate the different perspective. It made him feel like a real person and yes, he’s one of my favourite characters.

Also, the entire plot one of my favourite scenes is Luke putting out the fire he made, and Manny‘s face being like tf dude.

And the group painting contest and Haley sneaking inside and nearly getting caught.

And I’m not sure why nobody talks about Gloria’s description of the Jay Pritchett sandwich. It’s in my top 3 lines of her, up there with NOOOO PHIL YOU LOVE ME and YESSSS AND TAKE MANNY WITH YOU TWOOOOOOO
