My local park had one of these when I was a kid. It was so tall, and it felt so dangerous, like you could fly off the dang thing when you hit that bump in the middle. Also, if it was a hot and sunny day, you couldn’t use it because you’d get second-degree burns – sometimes there would be a “closed” sign on it, but most of the time, you had to use common sense.

The park removed it in 2005 when they upgraded the equipment to be “safer.” Now none of the slides are taller than 6 feet, and they’re all made of plastic.
