The best mystery thriller of the 2010s, Knives Out, is now available to stream for free. Directed by Rian Johnson, the first installment of the whodunit franchise came out in 2019 to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. After becoming a worldwide sensation, starring both Daniel Craig and Chris Evans, Knives Out was purchased by Netflix and produced its sequel, Glass Onion. But now, audiences can enjoy the film on Tubi for free starting November 1.
Of course, as with most titles on the streaming platform, fans can watch Knives Out on Tubi at no cost but with ads every 15 minutes or so. This is a hard bargain to pass up, especially since the third film, Wake Up Dead Man, is coming out on Netflix next year. There is no better time to catch up on the best mystery thriller of the 2010s and watch Craig’s Benoit Blanc uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of a famous crime novelist. Inspired by the Agatha Christie books, Johnson went from a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and traded lightsabers for a drama that infuses his unique brand of comedy and emotional character building.

Rian Johnson is at the peak of his cinematic prowess directing and writing Knives Out, but the film’s stacked cast does some heavy lifting too. Daniel Craig masterfully plays with the comedic aspects of the story while also pulling off the brash confidence of one of the world’s greatest detectives. Meanwhile, Ana de Armas is the sympathetic hero of the story, a registered nurse for the deceased famous author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) and the center of the mystery surrounding his death. As Ransom, Chris Evans excels at playing a charming douchebag and everyone’s favorite off-kilter family cousin. But those are just the main players, the mystery afoot involves a wide-ranging cast of potential suspects.

The rest of the Thrombey family is made up of more A-list actors, each magnetic and unique in their own way. Knives Out features Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer all playing members of a wealthy family. Each have their own motivations and intentions after the death of Harlan, making them suspects linked to the presumed murder. It’s up to the audience, alongside Craig’s Benoit Blanc, to single out the character most likely involved in the crime. The supporting cast of Knives Out also includes LaKeith Stanfield as Detective Lieutenant Elliott, if the previous stacked call sheet wasn’t enough to entice you.
