It’s official – Paramount+ has renewed the critically acclaimed crime drama series, Mayor of Kingstown, for a fourth season. Creators Taylor Sheridan
and Hugh Dillon have teased the possibility of the show’s return before, but the platform has finally confirmed the news nearly four months after Season 3 ended. This also marks the return of Jeremy Renner after his near-fatal accident with a snowplow in 2023.
The third season of Mayor of Kingstown ranked as the No. 1 series on Paramount+ throughout its run. A gripping exploration of power struggles, crime and social challenges in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan, it followed Mike McLusky (Renner), a power broker, as he navigates the complexities of maintaining order among rival factions. This included the arrival of a Russian mob presence and an eventual drug war that tested his resolve. Season 3 concluded with an explosive finale that saw a familiar face from McLusky’s past return to his life as well as the shocking death of a main character.
The series boasts a talented cast, including Renner, Diane West, Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Derek Webster, and Nichole Galicia. Sheridan and Dillon co-created the series, with the former also serving as an executive producer alongside Renner, Antoine Fuqua, and David C. Glasser. Dave Erickson also serves as a showrunner. Mayor of Kingstown is produced in collaboration with MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions.

Mayor of Kingstown has been a major hit for Paramount+, drawing 2.6 million viewers linearly since its premiere in 2021 and reaching 8.8 million viewers globally during its third season run. His first shot to fame as a creator came with Yellowstone, the modern-day Western drama that became a cultural phenomenon and led to multiple spin-offs, including 1883 and 1923.
