WHO WE ARE
The Conversation Canada contributes to the quality of explanatory journalism in this country, and the promise such journalism holds for democratic engagement, informed policy, and media innovation. It brings academics and experienced journalists together to share timely analysis and commentary drawing from research, evidence and insights generated by Canadian universities. The newsroom is based in Toronto with additional office space in Montreal. Our digital platform enables our team to work effectively and collaboratively either in person or remotely. Our diverse team of editors are located in Southern Ontario, Montreal and Vancouver and are part of a global newsroom able to share content across sites and around the world. Our member institutions make up the vast majority of Canada’s post-secondary institutions. Our editorial team works directly with academic experts to report relevant and timely stories. As part of their responsibilities, the CEO|Editor-in-Chief travels regularly to various member institutions to engage these key partners and deliver workshops to potential authors and communications’ teams.
While the organization’s principal source of funding comes from its academic member institutions, in 2024 it became a registered Canadian charity and looks to grow its revenue.
