In The Karate Kid (1984) Darryl Vidal, wearing a body suit and a bald cap, is Pat Morita’s stunt double when Mr. Myagi is practicing the crane technique at the beach. And although they use his real name during the tournament, he is only credited as “Karate Semi-Finalist.”
I rewatched this movie recently and I forgot that the movie basically ends right after Daniel kicks the guy in the face. Like, no falling action whatsoever. Just kick to the face, boom. Credits.
Respect to whoever made that decision. They weren’t walking back to the shire for several chapters. Just kick to the face and out of there.

Ooohhh, Hunter. I can’t wait.
Sigh….I always believed it was him.
Let’s bring this fella back for Cobra Kai!
Great, now I can’t unsee this.
Turns out gorgeous cinematography can distract you from a lot of unflattering details lol
This is that guy who, in the tournament, was just obviously better than everyone else?
*Spoiler Alert!!
They couldn’t list him as “Darryl Vidal – Himself.”

He had another stunt double in a different scene, Fumio Demura, who was the inspiration for Mr. Miyagi.

I learned this too late from the Rewatchables podcast on Karate Kid. Strong endorsement of you aren’t listening already.
