The fate of one of Netflix’s most popular shows has finally been revealed. A few weeks after the explosive debut of Season 3, viewers can rest easy knowing that their favorite special agent will be back for more action in the hit thriller. Yes, The Night Agent is set to return for a fourth season, as the streamer is more than happy with how critics and viewers have received the series.

Netflix has officially renewed The Night Agent for Season 4, after the third season debuted on the platform on Feb. 19. The streamer confirmed the news via a video posted on social media set in New York City, in which series star Gabriel Basso calls out to the fanbase and confirmed that the series will return for another season. Showrunner Shawn Ryan celebrated the news with the following statement, confirming that Peter Sutherland (Basso) will be back in the forefront in the impending fourth season.

“It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents to this point and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland (Basso) will continue into Season 4. Our writers, our cast and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns and thrills.”

The Night Agent Season 3 ends with the main character telling his superior at the FBI that he will be taking a much-deserved break from the action. However, when this happens, the deputy director (Albert Jones) teases that he may finally find Peter a partner, which the showrunner confirmed is “meant to be a launching pad for Season 4.” So, expect Basso’s action hero to be back sooner rather than later, and he won’t be alone. It sounds like fans will soon hear about who could potentially co-lead the next season alongside Basso, and whether it will be a well-known character, or a totally new one.

Upon its release on Netflix last month, The Night Agent Season 3 received some of the most positive reviews of that series thus far from critics. After debuting with a 100% score, the new season has settled into a still-impressive 86% score, which is tied with the second season. The Night Agent currently sits at the number two spot on Netflix’s most-watched shows list, proving that viewers are still invested in the series, three years since it premiered in 2023. It’s a no-brainer that the streamer has committed to another batch of episodes, and while it’s too early if a fifth season could also be in the works, it is hard to imagine that Netflix does not have a bright future in mind for the popular action thriller.

Alongside Basso, The Night Agent Season 3 featured Louis Herthum, Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Jennifer Morrison, Albert Jones, Ward Horton, and Genesis Rodriguez. Read the official synopsis:

Coming off the explosive events of Season Two, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process.
